The North Carolina Department of Transportation is currently recruiting locals for the biannual Litter Sweep, to be held from April 13 to April 27, 2019. Litter Sweep is a program that gets residents involved in cleaning up roadways to keep North Carolina beautiful and ultimately keep pollution out of our waterways. The Town of Harrisburg is pleased to make the program more readily-available to our residents by joining the effort. In addition to being able to pick up supplies from NCDOT locations, supplies will be available for pick up at Town Hall the week leading up to Litter Sweep. Supplies made available will be reversible trash/recycling bags, gloves and safety vests. Residents can pick up a supply bag to do a litter sweep of the roads of their choosing. Once done, residents can leave the bag on the roadside for either NCDOT or the Town of Harrisburg to collect during the two-week time frame. The Town asks that participants return safety vests.
Please join us in keeping the Town of Harrisburg a clean and beautiful place to live. Our goal is to improve the physical appearance of the Town, create a good impression to those who visit, improve the health of our community and create an opportunity for residents to get involved in something that will have an immediately positive impact.
